IMD issued heavy rainfall alert in Karnataka for next 1 week
IMD issued heavy rainfall: According to the latest forecasts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) heavy rain alert for Coastal Karnataka, which is expected to last until September 8.
Coastal Karnataka (Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada):
A ‘Red Alert’ was previously issued for these districts, with the intensity of rainfall expected to be very heavy to extremely heavy. While the red alert may have been downgraded to an ‘orange alert,’ heavy rainfall is still a significant concern.

Heavy rain is likely to continue in these regions, with some sources indicating the activity is expected to subside to light to moderate rainfall after September 4. There is a high possibility of flood-like situations and waterlogging in low-lying areas, which could disrupt transport and daily life.
Fishermen have been strongly advised not to venture into the sea due to squally weather and strong winds, which are expected to persist along the coast.
North Interior Karnataka districts in this region, including Bidar and Kalburgi, are also experiencing rain and thunderstorms, though the intensity is expected to reduce in the coming days.
South Interior Karnataka including Bengaluru, is likely to see light to moderate rain and thundershowers. While not as severe as the coastal areas, residents should be prepared for traffic congestion and other disruptions.

Advisory:
It is advised to stay updated with the latest weather bulletins from the IMD and local authorities.
Avoid unnecessary travel, especially in low-lying and coastal areas.
Be cautious of potential traffic disruptions, waterlogging, and uprooting of trees.
Bengaluru:
The city is likely to experience generally cloudy skies with intermittent light to moderate rain or thundershowers throughout the week. While heavy rainfall is not specifically forecast for Bengaluru, residents should be cautious of traffic congestion and other disruptions caused by the rain.
Please note that these are forecasts and actual weather conditions may vary. It is always best to stay updated with the latest information from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and local authorities.
