IMD issued heavy rainfall alert for next 2 days in 10 states

IMD Issued Heavy Rainfall Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall, and in some places, extremely heavy rainfall, across 10 states in India over the next 48 hours.

The active monsoon conditions, combined with a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, are the primary reasons for this weather pattern.

Northwest India

Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh: These states are on an extremely heavy rainfall alert, with a high risk of landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts. Authorities have issued red and orange alerts in many districts, and road closures are likely.

Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh: These states are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. Delhi-NCR has already been facing significant waterlogging and traffic disruptions.

East & Central India

Odisha and Chhattisgarh: These states are on alert for extremely heavy rainfall due to a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. This is expected to cause widespread rain, thunderstorms, and potential flash floods.

West and East Madhya Pradesh: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in this region over the next few days.

West Bengal and Jharkhand: These states are also under a heavy rainfall warning.

Northeast India

Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura: The IMD has forecast isolated heavy rainfall for these states over the next few days.

West India

Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in this region.
