North India:

Heavy Rain Alert: An orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for several districts in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. This has caused a rise in the water level of the Yamuna River, leading to a flood alert for low-lying areas in Delhi.

Delhi-NCR, Punjab, and Haryana: Continuous light to moderate rain, with a few spells of heavy showers, is expected to continue until at least August 11. This is likely to cause waterlogging and traffic disruptions in many areas.

East and Northeast India:

Heavy Rainfall: The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall to continue over the Northeast and adjoining East India for the next seven days.

Red Alert: A red alert for very heavy rainfall has been issued for isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh.

Bihar and Jharkhand: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is a threat in these states due to an active monsoon trough, increasing the chances of floods and waterlogging.

West Bengal: The hilly districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong are under an orange alert for severe rainfall and a caution for landslides. Southern districts, including Kolkata, are under a yellow alert for thunderstorms and gusty winds, with a risk of waterlogging.

South India:

Kerala: A cyclonic circulation has caused a renewed spell of heavy rainfall in Kerala. An orange alert has been issued for several districts.

Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana: Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in these states until Saturday.

Residents in the affected regions are advised to stay updated with local weather warnings, secure loose outdoor objects, and avoid taking shelter under trees or near electric poles during thunderstorms. Travellers to hilly regions should be cautious of landslides and road closures.
