Expelled BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa hints to rejoin BJP soon

Expelled BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa has recently indicated a strong desire to rejoin the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has stated that he will discuss the matter with senior leaders of the party before making a definitive move.

Eshwarappa, who was expelled from the BJP for six years last year for contesting the Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate from Shivamogga, has publicly stated that “the BJP was his life” and that “Hindutva is like his breath.” He has made it clear that he has no intention of joining any other political outfit, despite reportedly receiving offers from the Congress and Samajwadi Party.

He mentioned that he is considering meeting senior BJP leaders and has heard that some within the party are also open to his return. He believes that “after discussions, things may take shape.” Eshwarappa rebelled against the BJP’s official candidate (B.Y. Raghavendra, son of B.S. Yediyurappa) in Shivamogga after alleging that state BJP chief B.Y. Vijayendra and his father, B.S. Yediyurappa, denied a ticket to his son, K.E. Kantesh, from Haveri.

Kuruba Community’s Support: Eshwarappa noted that he heard through TV reports that BJP workers from the Kuruba community (to which he belongs) held a meeting and demanded his return to the party.

BJP’s Stance (Official): However, it’s important to note that a contrasting view has come from the BJP’s central leadership. Recently, BJP National General Secretary in charge of Karnataka, Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, stated that there was no proposal to re-induct expelled leaders like Eshwarappa, emphasizing that the party has no space for “disobedient and undisciplined” politicians.

So, while K.S. Eshwarappa has expressed his strong intention to return and his willingness to discuss it with senior leaders, the official stance from the BJP’s central leadership, as voiced by Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, suggests that his re-induction is not currently on the cards. The situation remains fluid.
