The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rain in 17 states. Heavy rainfall alert in these Tamil Nadu districts on Friday. Heavy rains are expected in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari.

The beginning of April brought a significant rise in temperatures, leaving many areas exposed to intense heat and harsh sunlight. The scorching weather has made daily life challenging and caused widespread discomfort.

However, there has now been relief in some southern states, where the weather has become more pleasant, with a drop in temperatures due to rain and thunderstorms.

According to IMD, heavy rains are likely in several states in the coming days. Bihar and Chhattisgarh are on high alert, while Jharkhand is expected to receive heavy rains along with hail. Southern states are also likely to receive significant rainfall, but heat waves and humid conditions will continue in Gujarat.

IMD has predicted heavy rains in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana. Temperatures in Karnataka may drop to 7.5 degrees Celsius, with rain and thunderstorms expected in Bengaluru. In Telangana, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district is likely to receive up to 97.8 mm of rainfall.

The scorching heat is intensifying in Delhi-NCR. Although strong winds have been forecast, they have not helped much in reducing the rising temperatures. Thursday was the hottest day of the season so far, with temperatures reaching 39 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures are expected to rise further in the coming days, possibly exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, and a heat wave warning has been issued for the region. April is expected to witness mixed weather conditions in UP, with thunderstorms, rain and strong winds expected.

According to the IMD, dark clouds and rain are likely to fall in many districts on April 8 and 9, leading to a drop in temperature and temporary relief from the heat. However, on April 5, 6 and 7, all 75 districts will have predominantly dry weather, with bright sunshine across the state.

On April 8 and 9, some eastern and western districts may experience rain with thunder and lightning. IMD has issued a warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms in South Bengal, including Kolkata, on April 4, 2025.

A weather official has predicted cloudy weather over North Kashmir and Sonamarg-Zojila axis today with light rain or snowfall in higher areas. However, from April 4-7, the weather is expected to be mostly dry.
