Karnataka Government Approves Salary Hike for State Transport Employees From July
The Karnataka Government has announced a 12 point 5 percent basic pay increase for transport corporation employees. The revised salary will take effect from July and benefit more than one lakh staff members across the state

The Karnataka Government has announced a long awaited salary revision for employees working in the state transport corporations, bringing relief to thousands of staff who had been demanding a pay hike for several months. The revised pay structure will be implemented with salaries paid from July, offering financial support to employees across different departments.
According to the government order, the basic salary of employees in the state transport corporations has been increased by 12 point 5 percent. The revision will be calculated based on the basic pay as of March 31, 2025, and the revised amount will be reflected in salaries from July 1, 2026. The decision is expected to benefit nearly 1.05 lakh employees working in various transport services across Karnataka.
The salary revision applies to employees of KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC and KKRTC. Drivers, conductors, technical staff, administrative employees and other eligible workers will all receive the revised pay under the new order. Officials estimate that the move will increase the government’s monthly expenditure by around Rs 72.80 crore.
The announcement comes after transport employees and workers unions repeatedly raised concerns over delayed wage revision and pending salary arrears. Staff had also warned of protests, stating that wage revision had not been carried out on time and that arrears for several months were still unpaid. The latest decision is seen as a response to those long standing demands.
Government officials have also confirmed that the first installment of pending salary arrears has already been released. The remaining arrear payments will be cleared in phases over the coming months. Employees can expect the revised salary to be credited along with their July pay.
The salary revision is being viewed as a significant development for Karnataka’s public transport workforce. Employee associations have welcomed the decision, saying it provides long awaited financial relief while acknowledging the contribution of transport staff who play a vital role in keeping public transportation services running across the state.
