Moisture-laden winds blowing from the Bay of Bengal through Tamil Nad are likely to trigger widespread thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rain over the next few days.
The impact will be felt first across the southern interior districts, including Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, and Ramanagara, where rainfall is expected to become more intense starting today.
The IMD has also warned of very heavy rainfall on October 5 and 6 in the Malnad region, particularly in Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Kodagu, and the Sakleshpur region of Hassan district. Residents in these areas have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
Meanwhile, the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kasaragod are expected to experience a mix of sunshine and cloudy skies throughout the week. Moderate to fairly widespread evening showers are likely to continue until October 9, while rainfall activity is also expected to increase in Uttara Kannada from tomorrow.
In contrast, weather conditions will remain largely dry across North Interior Karnataka. Dry winds from northern India are expected to suppress rainfall over Bagalkot, Gadag, Kalaburagi, and Bidar, where no significant rain is forecast.
However, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, and Yadgir may receive isolated light showers in some areas. The IMD has indicated that the overall intensity of rainfall across Karnataka is likely to gradually decrease after October 7.
