Commercial LPG Cylinder Price Cut Brings Relief to Hotels and Restaurants

Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been reduced from July 1 offering significant relief to hotels restaurants and businesses while domestic cooking gas prices remain unchanged across major cities for now.

Businesses that depend on commercial cooking gas have received welcome relief as the price of the 19 kilogram commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced with effect from July 1. The latest revision is expected to ease operating costs for hotels, restaurants and other food service establishments that had been dealing with repeated price increases over the past several months.

According to the revised rates, the price of a commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by Rs 183.50. In Bengaluru, the cost of a 19 kilogram cylinder has come down to around Rs 3021, providing much needed support for businesses facing rising input expenses.

The reduction comes after a period of continuous price hikes linked to global energy market volatility. Supply concerns in international crude oil and gas markets had pushed fuel prices higher, leading to repeated increases in commercial LPG rates across the country.

Industry representatives said commercial cylinder prices had climbed sharply over recent months. During March, April, May and June, oil marketing companies revised rates upward several times, resulting in a cumulative increase of more than Rs 1300 for a 19 kilogram commercial cylinder. Those successive hikes placed considerable financial pressure on restaurants, catering businesses and small food outlets.

The recent price cut is therefore being viewed as a positive development by the hospitality sector. Hotel owners believe the reduction will help lower operational expenses, although many say fuel costs continue to remain higher than earlier levels.

While commercial users have benefited from the latest revision, there has been no similar relief for households. Domestic LPG cylinders had also witnessed price increases in recent months, with the cost of the standard 14.2 kilogram cylinder rising in multiple revisions. However, the latest announcement does not include any reduction in domestic cooking gas prices.

Business owners have welcomed the move but are also hoping for greater price stability in the coming months. Many believe consistent fuel prices are essential for managing operating budgets and avoiding frequent changes in food prices for customers.

The revised commercial LPG rates came into effect on July 1 and are applicable immediately. Consumers and businesses are advised to check the latest prices with their local LPG distributors, as rates may vary slightly depending on the city and applicable taxes.
