BJP MLA Heads to Dharmasthala to Take Oath Amid Cross-Voting Allegations

Karnataka Legislative Council elections has taken a dramatic turn, with H K Suresh, BJP MLA from Belur, travelling to Dharmasthala to publicly swear before Lord Manjunatha that he did not vote against his party.

Bengaluru: The controversy surrounding the alleged cross-voting in the Karnataka Legislative Council elections has taken a dramatic turn, with H K Suresh, BJP MLA from Belur, travelling to Dharmasthala to publicly swear before Lord Manjunatha that he did not vote against his party.

The cross-voting allegations, which have sparked intense political debate in Karnataka following the Legislative Council election results, have now reached the revered pilgrimage town of Dharmasthala, where the MLA plans to take a solemn oath to prove his innocence.

First Oath at Belur Chennakeshava Temple:

Before leaving for Dharmasthala, H K Suresh visited the historic Chennakeshava Temple in Belur along with hundreds of party workers and supporters. After offering special prayers, the MLA placed his hand on the sacred stone inside the temple premises and said “I did not indulge in cross-voting in the Legislative Council elections under any circumstances. I have not betrayed my party.”

He made the declaration in the presence of party workers, invoking Lord Chennakeshava as a witness. Following the oath, the BJP legislator lit camphor before the deity and departed for Dharmasthala, where he is expected to take another oath before Lord Manjunatha.

Soon after allegations of cross-voting surfaced, H K Suresh had stated that he was prepared to swear before Lord Manjunatha at Dharmasthala to prove his honesty and refute the accusations. Acting on that statement, he is now set to fulfil his pledge by taking the oath at the famous temple.

Political Controversy Intensifies:

The cross-voting controversy, which erupted within the BJP after the Karnataka Legislative Council election results, has now taken an unusual religious and symbolic turn. HK Suresh’s decision to publicly swear before revered deities has attracted widespread attention and sparked curiosity across political circles in the state.
