Youth lured on pretext of sofa order, brutally murdered near Kolar outskirts

Kolar, : In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old youth was allegedly lured out of his home on the pretext of a work order and brutally murdered on the outskirts of Kolar.
The deceased has been identified as Salman Pasha, a resident of Beedi Colony who worked in sofa manufacturing and repair. According to police, a few acquaintances visited his house around 11:30 pm on Monday and told him that a new sofa order had come in and he needed to take measurements.
Trusting them, Salman accompanied the group in an auto-rickshaw. The group later reached near a bar close to the APMC market area, where they reportedly consumed alcohol.
Police said an argument broke out between Salman and an auto driver identified as Abdul Rasheed. The dispute, initially minor, escalated quickly under the influence of alcohol and suspected drug use.
“In a sudden fit of rage, the accused allegedly picked up a stone and attacked Salman, and later stabbed him multiple times,” a police officer said. Salman sustained severe injuries and died on the spot due to heavy blood loss.
Officials from the local police station rushed to the scene soon after receiving information. The accused, who was reportedly intoxicated and found at the spot, was taken into custody immediately.
Police sources said, “The accused was under the influence of alcohol and possibly narcotic substances. We have secured him and shifted him to a government hospital for treatment. Further investigation is underway.”
A case of murder has been registered, and police are probing the exact sequence of events and the role of others present at the scene.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family is in deep shock. His father Khadar Pasha and mother Shakeela alleged that their son was deceived and taken away under false pretences. “They told him it was for work, but they took him and killed him,” they said, demanding strict punishment for the accused.
Locals have expressed concern over the rising use of drugs and alcohol in the district, blaming it for increasing violent crimes.
