Broad daylight murder shocks Wadi town

Kalaburagi : A brutal daylight murder has sent shockwaves through Wadi town after miscreants allegedly opened fire and hacked a man to death near Balaram Chowk on Monday afternoon. The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Irfan, said to be a local leader of the ‘Bhai Bhai’ group.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred near Sevalal temple when Irfan was travelling on a motorcycle. Eyewitnesses stated that a group of assailants intercepted him mid-way, first firing at him to immobilise him before attacking him with sharp weapons. The assailants reportedly fled the scene immediately after executing the crime, leaving Irfan in a pool of blood.
Police sources suspect that the murder may have been carried out due to long-standing personal rivalry. “Prima facie, it appears to be a pre-planned attack linked to previous enmity. We are verifying all angles,” a senior officer from Karnataka Police said.
The gruesome nature of the killing has created panic among residents, with several shops downing shutters as tension gripped the locality. Locals described the attack as “sudden and terrifying,” adding that the assailants seemed to have executed the crime with precision.
A case has been registered at the Wadi Police Station, and multiple teams have been formed to track down the accused. Police have begun reviewing CCTV footage from nearby establishments to identify the attackers and trace their movements before and after the incident.
Senior officials rushed to the spot and conducted a detailed inspection. The body has been shifted for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
Authorities have also increased police deployment in the area to prevent any untoward incidents. “We are closely monitoring the situation and ensuring law and order is maintained,” officials added.
The incident has once again raised concerns about rising gang rivalries and violent crimes in the region, prompting calls for stricter surveillance and preventive policing.
