19-year-old accused of exploiting 180 minor girls; over 350 obscene videos go viral — who is Tanveer Ahmed?

Amaravathi ; In a shocking case from Amravati district of Maharashtra, a 19-year-old  youth has been arrested for allegedly sharing objectionable photos and explicit videos of several minor girls online. The arrest has triggered widespread outrage, with political leaders demanding a high-level probe into the incident.

According to police officials, the  accused  has been identified as Tanveer Ahmed, also known as Ayan Ahmed, a resident of Paratwada in Amravati district. He was taken into custody on April 11 after disturbing visuals involving multiple girls surfaced on social media platforms. Authorities revealed that many of the victims are minors, raising serious concerns over child safety and online exploitation.

During the investigation, police reportedly seized around 350 explicit videos from the accused’s mobile phone. Preliminary findings suggest that the accused had allegedly lured nearly 180 minor girls, established contact with them, and engaged in sexual exploitation. Officials stated that he allegedly coerced victims into participating in obscene acts, often against their will, and recorded the incidents.

Police further said that the accused used these videos to defame the victims by uploading them on social media. Investigators believe that manipulation, emotional coercion, and false promises were used to trap the victims. The extent of the exploitation has raised alarm among law enforcement agencies.

The case has now taken a political turn, with Anil Bonde urging the state government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter thoroughly. He emphasized the need for a transparent and time-bound investigation, citing the gravity of the allegations and the number of victims involved.

Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 294 (sale and distribution of obscene material), provisions of the POCSO Act, and sections under the Information Technology Act.

Despite the seriousness of the case, police officials noted that none of the victims have formally approached authorities so far. They have appealed to the victims and their families to come forward and cooperate with the investigation, assuring them that their identities will be kept strictly confidential.

Authorities have reiterated that stringent legal action will be taken against the accused and anyone found involved in the crime. The case continues to unfold as investigators gather digital evidence and track possible links to a wider network.
