Diwali 2025 Lakshmi Puja: Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights, and the main ritual on the day of Diwali is the Diwali Lakshmi-Ganesha Puja. Devotees worship Goddess Lakshmi (for wealth and prosperity) and Lord Ganesha (for wisdom and the removal of obstacles).

Shubh Muhurat for Lakshmi Puja (Pradosh Kaal):
The most auspicious time for Lakshmi Puja is during Pradosh Kaal (dusk), which is when the Sthir Lagna (a fixed Ascendant) of Vrishabha (Taurus) or Singh (Leo) is present, as it is believed that Lakshmi, once she enters the home during this time, stays there permanently.

Pradosh Kaal – 05:46 PM to 08:18 PM – 2 hours 32 minutes
Vrishabha Kaal – 07:08 PM to 09:03 PM – 1 hour 55 minutes
Lakshmi Puja Shubh Muhurat – 07:08 PM to 08:18 PM – 1 hour 11 minutes
Full Puja Vidhi (Method of Worship):
The Lakshmi Puja is a meticulous ritual performed in the evening. Here is a brief outline of the steps:
1. Preparation and Cleansing: The house is thoroughly cleaned, and a ritual bath (Snan) is taken before the Puja. The place of worship (altar) is cleaned and decorated with a red cloth, rangoli, and flowers.
2. Setting up the Altar: Place the idols/pictures of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha on the altar. Lord Ganesha should be placed on the right (Southeast) side of Goddess Lakshmi.
Place the Kalash (pot) filled with Ganga Jal, betel nut, a coin, and a whole coconut on top, surrounded by mango leaves.
Arrange all the Samagri (items) neatly.
3. Sankalp (Vow): The head of the family takes a vow to perform the Puja with devotion for the prosperity of the family, mentioning the date, place, and family names.
4. Ganesh Puja (Worship of Lord Ganesha): Begin with the worship of Lord Ganesha to remove all obstacles. This involves offering water, tilak, flowers, and modak (sweet).
5. Kalash Puja: Worship the Kalash, which represents all divine powers, by offering tilak and flowers.
6. Lakshmi Puja (Worship of Goddess Lakshmi):
Invoke Goddess Lakshmi and offer her a seat (Asan).
Offer water to wash her feet (Padya) and hands (Arghya).
Bathe her idol with Panchamrit (Panchamrit Snan) and then with water.
Offer new clothes (Vastra), a new thread (Yagnopavit), perfume (Itar), jewelry (Abhushan), and sringar (cosmetics/ornaments).
Offer tilak (Kumkum and Haldi), rice (Akshat), and flowers (especially a lotus).
Recite the Lakshmi Mantra and Shri Suktam.
7. Worship of Other Deities: Offer prayers to Goddess Saraswati, Lord Kuber, and the family’s books of accounts (Chopda), safe, and important tools/documents.
8. Offerings (Naivedya): Offer sweets, fruits, kheel, and batasha. Place a small coin/currency note in front of the deity.
9. Aarti: Conclude the Puja by lighting a camphor and performing the Lakshmi-Ganesh Aarti.
10. Distribution: Distribute the Prasad (consecrated food) to all family members and light the diyas (lamps) around the house to welcome the Goddess.
