Oppo And Xiaomi Phones And Tablets Get Costlier By Up To Rs 5000 In India

People planning to buy a new smartphone or tablet in India may now have to spend more than before. Oppo and Xiaomi have increased the prices of several devices across their portfolios, affecting premium smartphones as well as tablets and budget models.

The latest changes include the Oppo Find X9s, Xiaomi Pad 8, Redmi Pad 2 and Redmi 15A. The size of the increase varies depending on the model and configuration, with the Oppo Find X9s recording the highest reported hike of Rs 5000.

The price revision comes at a time when the electronics industry is dealing with higher costs for memory components. Rising prices of RAM and storage related parts can increase manufacturing expenses, and manufacturers may adjust retail prices to account for some of those additional costs.

Oppo Find X9s gets the biggest price hike

The Oppo Find X9s has received the sharpest increase among the affected devices. Both reported storage configurations have become Rs 5000 more expensive.

The 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version, which was previously priced at Rs 79,999, is now listed at Rs 84,999. Meanwhile, the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage variant has moved from Rs 89,999 to Rs 94,999.

The Find X9s features a 6.59 inch display and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset. It also carries a large 7025mAh battery. For photography, the phone has a triple rear camera setup built around 50MP sensors, along with a 32MP front camera.

Xiaomi Pad 8 becomes Rs 3000 costlier

The Xiaomi Pad 8 has also seen a noticeable revision in its pricing. The 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version has increased from Rs 43,999 to Rs 46,999.

The Nano Texture edition has also received the same Rs 3000 increase, moving from Rs 45,999 to Rs 48,999. This is not the first price revision for the tablet, as some Pad 8 configurations were reportedly made more expensive in August as well.

With the latest adjustment, buyers looking at the higher storage versions of the Xiaomi Pad 8 will now need to keep a larger budget in mind.

Redmi Pad 2 prices rise across configurations

The Redmi Pad 2 has received smaller increases, with prices going up by as much as Rs 1000 depending on the configuration.

The 4GB RAM and 128GB Wi Fi model has moved from Rs 18,999 to Rs 19,999. The 4GB RAM and 128GB Cellular version is now priced at Rs 20,999, compared with its earlier price of Rs 19,999.

The 6GB RAM and 128GB Cellular variant has increased from Rs 22,999 to Rs 23,999. The 8GB RAM and 256GB Cellular model has similarly moved from Rs 24,999 to Rs 25,999.

Redmi 15A also sees a price change

The price increase is not limited to premium devices. Redmi 15A configurations in the budget segment have also become more expensive.

The 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model has increased from Rs 15,999 to Rs 16,499. The 4GB RAM and 128GB version now costs Rs 18,499, compared with Rs 17,499 earlier.

For buyers choosing the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration, the price has gone up from Rs 19,499 to Rs 20,499.

Why are smartphone and tablet prices increasing?

Memory components are being closely watched as one of the factors behind recent price changes in the smartphone and tablet market. RAM and storage are essential parts of modern devices, and changes in their costs can directly affect manufacturing expenses.
