OnePlus Nord 6 Gets Major Price Hike Just Weeks After Launch
OnePlus has increased Nord 6 prices by up to Rs 5000 as global chip shortages and rising memory costs continue pushing smartphone brands toward higher pricing across markets worldwide
Buying a new smartphone is becoming more expensive for consumers, and the latest example comes from OnePlus. The company has raised the price of its recently launched OnePlus Nord 6 smartphone just weeks after its market debut. Customers who were planning to purchase the device now have to spend several thousand rupees more than the original launch price.
The OnePlus Nord 6 was introduced in April and quickly grabbed attention because of its massive 9000mAh battery, premium build quality, and flagship level performance. However, the excitement around the device has now shifted toward its revised pricing. The 8GB and 256GB variant, which was initially launched at Rs 38999, is now available for Rs 41999. At the same time, the 12GB and 256GB version has jumped from Rs 41999 to Rs 46999. The updated prices are already visible on both Amazon and the official OnePlus website.
Industry experts say the sudden increase is linked to the ongoing global shortage of memory chips and rising production costs. Smartphone brands are reportedly facing higher expenses for components such as processors, storage modules, and display panels. As a result, companies are gradually passing those costs on to customers.
OnePlus is not the only company making such changes. Major smartphone brands including Samsung, Xiaomi, and Vivo have also raised prices across several models in recent months. Devices that once belonged to the affordable budget segment are now entering higher price brackets. Entry level smartphones that earlier sold between Rs 6000 and Rs 7000 are now rarely available below Rs 10000.
Reports suggest that this pricing trend may continue for the next few years. Analysts believe shortages in the semiconductor and memory chip industry are likely to impact not only smartphones but also tablets, laptops, and other smart devices until at least 2027. This has created concern among buyers who are already dealing with increasing gadget prices.
Despite the higher cost, the OnePlus Nord 6 continues to offer powerful specifications that appeal to performance focused users. The smartphone features a large 6.78 inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 3600 nits. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, which is designed to handle gaming, multitasking, and demanding applications smoothly.
For photography, the device includes a 50 megapixel primary camera with OIS support and an 8 megapixel ultra wide sensor on the rear. Selfie and video calling duties are managed by a 32 megapixel front camera. OnePlus has also focused heavily on durability by offering MIL STD 810H military grade certification along with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for protection against water and dust.
The biggest highlight remains the huge 9000mAh battery, which is significantly larger than what most smartphones currently offer. The phone supports 80W fast charging, 27W wired reverse charging, and bypass charging technology, making it suitable for heavy users who need long battery life throughout the day.
With smartphone prices climbing steadily across brands, consumers may now have to think twice before delaying a purchase. What launches at one price today could become considerably more expensive within just a few weeks.
