4. Shivamogga Lions

The auction for the tournament was held on July 15, 2025, with some big names going under the hammer. Devdutt Padikkal was the highest bid player, picked up by Hubli Tigers for a record Rs 13.20 lakhs. Manish Pandey also went for a significant sum to Mysore Warriors.
The tournament is scheduled to begin on August 11, 2025, and will run until August 27, 2025. All matches will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The player auction for the Maharaja Trophy 2025 was held on July 15, 2025, where franchises finalized their 18-member squads.

Highest Buys:
Devdutt Padikkal was the most expensive player, bought by Hubli Tigers for a record Rs 13.20 lakhs.
Abhinav Manohar (Hubli Tigers) and Manish Pandey (Mysore Warriors) were the joint second-highest buys, each fetching Rs 12.20 lakhs.
Vidwath Kaverappa (Shivamogga Lions) went for Rs 10.80 lakhs.
Vidyadhar Patil (Bengaluru Blasters) was acquired for Rs 8.40 lakhs.
Notable Players: Many prominent Karnataka cricketers, including retained players like Karun Nair (Mysore Warriors) and Mayank Agarwal (Bengaluru Blasters), are participating. Rahul Dravid’s son, Samit Dravid, went unsold in the auction.
Squad Composition: Each team has a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 18 players, excluding two mandatory picks from their respective catchment areas, promoting local talent.
Broadcasting:
Live streaming of the auction was available on Star Sports Kannada and FanCode apps. It’s expected that the matches will also be broadcast on these platforms. The Maharaja Trophy promises to be an exciting showcase of Karnataka’s cricketing talent, even without the presence of a live audience.
A significant change for this year is that the tournament will be played behind closed doors, with no spectators allowed in the stadium. This decision was made as a precautionary measure, partly due to a stampede that occurred outside the stadium during the IPL 2025 celebrations and also to facilitate preparations for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, which will host matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in September and October.
