Vice President Election 2025: 12 MPs who have abstained from voting
Vice President Election: Voting has concluded in the recent Vice-Presidential election, with a voter turnout of over 98%. The polling, which took place in the new Parliament building, saw a contest between NDA nominee C.P. Radhakrishnan and joint opposition candidate B. Sudershan Reddy. Vice President Election: 12 MPs who have abstained from voting.
The counting of votes began at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, and the results are expected to be announced later in the evening. According to government sources, 13 members of Parliament abstained from voting.
This includes 7 MPs from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), 4 from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), 1 from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), and one independent member, Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa. In contrast, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh stated that all 315 Opposition MPs cast their votes, calling it an “unprecedented 100% turnout” for their side.

In the recent Vice-Presidential election, 12 MPs abstained from voting. These MPs belong to three parties that decided to boycott the election: the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
