Show documents proving RSS is a registered organisation: Priyank Kharge demands clarity on funding sources

Bengaluru: IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge has demanded that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) produce official documents proving its registration as a legitimate organisation, questioning how an unregistered body manages to receive funds and construct buildings across the country.

Speaking to reporters near his Sadashivanagar residence, Kharge said, “Let the RSS show documents proving it is a registered organisation. If it is legally registered, it will fall under the ambit of taxation and transparency. Who is funding them for their uniforms and buildings must be made public. They have not registered themselves precisely to avoid accountability,” he alleged.

Responding to questions about permissions for Dalit organisations such as Bhim Army and Dalit Panthers to hold processions in Chittapur and Chamarajanagar, the minister said, “As per the High Court order, if the atmosphere is conducive, permission can be granted. The same rule applies to all organisations. Even RSS must first seek permission before conducting its path sanchalans.”

Taking a dig at BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal’s letter to the Chief Minister opposing prayers on roads, Priyank Kharge remarked, “He wrote that letter in English — I wonder whether it was meant for the CM, Amit Shah, or someone else. If they want to hold public prayers, they must apply for permission just like everyone else.”

Kharge also criticised BJP leaders for their silence over the alleged threats made to the Chief Justice of India (CJI). “Your organisation’s members are issuing threats. Has even one BJP leader condemned it? They claim to be patriots but fail to denounce such behaviour. Is threatening someone’s family acceptable?” he asked.

Reiterating his stand, Kharge said that any organisation — be it RSS or others — must operate within the legal framework, seek prior approval, and maintain transparency about its financial and operational structures.
