No ministerial ambition while father is CM, says Yathindra Siddaramaiah

Belagavi: Legislative Council member Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Thursday made it clear that he has no aspirations for a ministerial berth as long as his father, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, continues in office. He said it would be inappropriate to seek a ministerial position under such circumstances.
Speaking to reporters at Nayanagar village in Bailhongal taluk of Belagavi district, Yathindra responded to speculation about his possible induction into the Cabinet. He emphasised that more deserving, experienced, and senior leaders should be given priority. He also noted that several newly elected MLAs have expressed interest in ministerial positions, adding that every Cabinet typically includes a mix of experienced leaders and fresh faces.
On the recurring discussions about a possible change in the Chief Minister, Yathindra said such debates are common in every government. He pointed out that even the previous BJP government witnessed leadership changes, and such speculation is not unusual in politics.
Reacting to calls by leaders like Lakshman Savadi and Satish Jarkiholi to resolve internal issues within the Congress, he said the party high command would take appropriate decisions to avoid confusion, and all leaders would abide by them.
Regarding demands for a change in the KPCC president and Cabinet reshuffle, Yathindra stated that reshuffles are a routine process midway through a government’s tenure. He reiterated that such demands are not new and the party leadership will take a final call.
On suggestions to appoint Satish Jarkiholi as KPCC president, he refrained from commenting, stating that the decision rests entirely with the party high command.
Expressing confidence about upcoming by-elections in Bagalkot and Davanagere, Yathindra said the party has received positive feedback from both regions and is hopeful of victory. Responding to questions about internal disciplinary actions, he said leaders had campaigned collectively but decisions are based on inputs received by the high command.
On senior leader Zameer Ahmed Khan, he declined to speculate about any action, praising his contributions to the party. Commenting on the Yogesh Gowda murder case verdict involving Vinay Kulkarni, he said legal options remain open, including appeal before the High Court.
