Congress Candidates for By-election:
Davangere South: Samarth Shamanur
He is the son of Horticulture Minister S.S. Mallikarjun and the grandson of the late veteran leader Shamanur Shivashankarappa. His candidacy marks the entry of the third generation of the Shamanur family into active politics.
Bagalkot: Umesh Meti
He is the son of the late former Minister H.Y. Meti. The party chose him following discussions to ensure family consensus after the seat was vacated due to his father’s passing.
Opposition (BJP) Candidates:
Davangere South: Srinivas T. Dasakariyappa (State vice-president of the BJP ST Morcha).
Bagalkot: Veerabhadrayya Charantimath (Former MLA).
