Zerodha co-founder Nithin Kamath shares wife Seema Kamath’s inspiring comeback at Mumbai Marathon

Mumbai: Zerodha co-founder and billionaire entrepreneur Nithin Kamath has shared an emotional and inspiring account of his wife Seema Kamath’s remarkable comeback, after she successfully completed a 10-kilometre run at the Tata Mumbai Marathon.

What made the achievement extraordinary was the fact that Seema, a cancer survivor, completed the run in an impressive 57 minutes after a prolonged battle with the disease.

Fitness runs and marathons in cities like Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai often see participation from thousands of people, including business leaders, politicians and celebrities. However, Seema Kamath’s run stood out as a symbol of resilience and determination.

After fighting cancer for nearly two-and-a-half years, she returned to competitive running and crossed the finish line with confidence and strength. Nithin Kamath took to social media to share his pride and joy, calling the moment difficult to describe in words.

He said witnessing the energy, grit and celebration at the marathon made him reflect on how little right people have to complain about life’s challenges. “On a deeply personal note, my wife Seema has beaten cancer after a 2.5-year-long struggle and today completed a 10 km run at the Mumbai Marathon in 57 minutes,” he wrote.

Seema Kamath had been away from marathon running for nearly 2.5 years due to her treatment and recovery. During this period, she underwent intensive chemotherapy and other medical procedures after being diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer in 2021.

Despite maintaining a disciplined lifestyle with regular fitness routines and a healthy diet, the diagnosis came as a major shock. She reportedly chose to keep the news limited to close family members, drawing strength from within.

Throughout her treatment, Nithin Kamath stood firmly by her side, supporting her through what he described as some of the toughest days of their lives. Cancer treatment, especially chemotherapy, is often physically and mentally exhausting, draining patients of energy and morale. Yet, Seema continued to fight with remarkable mental strength and determination.

After completing her treatment and recovery, Seema returned not only to normal life but to a physically demanding goal—running a marathon. Her participation and performance at the Mumbai Marathon have since inspired many.

Seema Kamath also shared her journey on her own social media page, reflecting on the hardships, fear and perseverance that marked her battle with cancer. Her story has resonated widely, drawing praise and admiration across social media platforms.

Many users have hailed her as a symbol of hope, courage and resilience, proving that setbacks, no matter how severe, can be overcome with determination and support. Her achievement has now become a source of motivation for countless others fighting illness and adversity.
