Weather Alert: Heavy rainfall alert in these states for next 5 days

Weather Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that the monsoon will remain active, with heavy rainfall expected in September.  A weather update for India with heavy to very heavy rain alerts for several states from September 11th to 15th, 2025.

The monsoon trough is expected to shift to near or north of its normal position, which will bring widespread rain to parts of east and northeast India.

Northeast India (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura):

This region is expected to receive continued rainfall and thunderstorms throughout the week. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely, particularly between September 12th and 15th.

Eastern India (Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim):

Odisha is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 11th.

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are on alert for isolated heavy rainfall until at least September 14th.

South Peninsular India:

Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh are under an alert for isolated heavy rainfall until September 14th and 13th, respectively.

Tamil Nadu and Kerala may see isolated heavy rainfall on September 11th.

South Interior Karnataka has a warning for thunderstorms and lightning from September 11th to 13th.

North Interior Karnataka has a heavy rain and thunderstorm warning from September 11th to 14th.

Central India:

East Madhya Pradesh is likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall on September 11th.

Chhattisgarh is also on alert for heavy rainfall until September 13th.

Northwest India:

While some parts of the region have seen significant rainfall recently, the forecast for the next few days indicates a decrease in heavy rain activity. Uttar Pradesh is expected to have isolated heavy rainfall on September 11th, 12th, and 15th.

Uttarakhand has a warning for heavy rain from September 12th to 14th, which could trigger landslides. Delhi-NCR is expected to have a decrease in rainfall with temperatures rising and a high chance of humidity.

Due to the active monsoon conditions, there is a continued risk of flash floods and landslides in vulnerable regions, particularly in the Western Himalayan Region and other hilly areas.

Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest alerts from the IMD and to take necessary precautions. Travel to hill stations may be risky during this period. Strong surface winds of 30-40 kmph are also very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema.
