Concerns over food quality on Vande Bharat trains have resurfaced after a passenger reported a severe allergic reaction following a meal served onboard. The incident has drawn attention on social media and raised fresh questions about catering services on the premium train network.
The incident reportedly occurred on March 27 when a woman from Ranchi was traveling from Varanasi to Deoghar on the Vande Bharat Express with train number 22500. She was seated in the E1 coach and was accompanied by her two year old child.
Allergic reaction reported after eating onboard food
According to the passenger she began experiencing swelling on her upper lip shortly after consuming the food served on the train. She later noticed symptoms of an allergic reaction across her body and eventually had to seek immediate medical assistance.
The woman shared her experience on social media platform X along with photographs and medical reports. She claimed that the allergic reaction occurred after consuming the meal provided during the journey.
The passenger also mentioned that her two year old child who ate the same meal suffered from stomach issues and diarrhea soon after.
IRCTC responds to the complaint
Following the online complaint IRCTC responded and said the matter had been taken seriously. Officials stated that the food served in the E1 coach of the Vande Bharat Express on that particular day was reviewed as part of a preliminary check.
According to IRCTC the inspection did not find any issues with the food quality and it was considered satisfactory. The organization also said that no other passengers on the train had reported similar problems during that journey.
Detailed inquiry expected
IRCTC has requested the passenger to share additional details through direct communication so that a thorough investigation can be conducted. Officials assured that the matter would be examined carefully to determine the exact cause of the reported allergic reaction.
The case has once again highlighted the importance of maintaining strict quality standards in food services on premium trains as passenger expectations continue to grow.
