Two alleged members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were killed in a police encounter in Haryana on Sunday during a joint operation carried out by the Delhi Police Special Cell and the Haryana Special Task Force. A Delhi Police constable was also injured during the exchange of gunfire and is currently receiving treatment.
The operation took place in Bahadurgarh after security agencies received specific intelligence that the suspects had arrived in the area carrying weapons and were allegedly planning another serious crime. Acting on the information, the joint team tracked the suspects and surrounded them.
According to Haryana STF officials, the suspects were asked to surrender, but they allegedly opened fire on the police team. Officers then retaliated in self defense, leading to a gun battle in which both suspects sustained critical injuries.
The injured men, identified as Pravesh from Hisar and Himanshu from Jakhod Khera village, were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors later declared them dead. Police said both were wanted in multiple criminal cases and carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh each.
Investigators alleged that the two men were linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi, Hariram alias Harry Boxer, and Anil Pandit criminal network. They were also named as the main accused in the daylight murder of a gym operator named Kapil in Hansi on June 11, a case that drew widespread attention after CCTV footage of the attack surfaced.
During the exchange of fire, Delhi Police constable Ankit suffered a bullet injury to his leg. Officials said he is undergoing treatment and is out of danger.
Police have registered a fresh case at the Bahadurgarh Sadar Police Station and initiated the legal investigation into the encounter. Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the operation as part of the standard legal process.
