PM Modi Urges Iran President to Resolve West Asia Tensions Peacefully
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian to prioritize peaceful dialogue and diplomacy while stressing regional stability, maritime security, and uninterrupted commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss the rapidly evolving situation in West Asia. During the call, both leaders reviewed recent developments in the region, while the Iranian President briefed Modi on the current ground situation.
Reaffirming India’s long standing position, Prime Minister Modi stressed that conflicts should be resolved through diplomacy and peaceful dialogue instead of military action. He emphasized that negotiations remain the most effective path toward reducing tensions and achieving lasting peace.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of ensuring long term stability across West Asia. He said sustained diplomatic engagement is essential to prevent further escalation and maintain peace in the region.
A key focus of the discussion was maritime security. Modi underlined the need to protect freedom of navigation and ensure the safe movement of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global trade and energy supplies. He noted that uninterrupted shipping is vital not only for India but also for the international community.
The conversation came as reports indicated that the United States and Iran are preparing for another round of high level talks in Doha, Qatar, aimed at easing tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. According to reports, both sides have agreed to temporarily halt attacks against each other while negotiations continue.
The upcoming discussions are expected to cover maritime security, commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, economic sanctions, and several other unresolved issues. India has consistently maintained that peaceful negotiations and diplomatic efforts offer the best opportunity for achieving lasting regional peace and stability.
