The investigation into the murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal has taken a dramatic turn after investigators reportedly uncovered evidence suggesting that the prime accused, Sia, had secretly married her partner Chetan several months before the crime.
According to investigators, Sia became engaged to Ketan Agarwal in February this year, and both families were preparing for their wedding, which was scheduled for November. However, the latest findings indicate that Sia had already entered into a marriage with Chetan at a local registrar’s office in Pune about four months ago without informing her family.
The alleged secret marriage came to light during the examination of WhatsApp conversations recovered from the mobile phones of Sia and Chetan. Investigators believe the digital evidence points to the couple having completed the marriage formalities well before Ketan’s death.
Police are now verifying whether the marriage was officially registered under the Special Marriage Act and whether a valid marriage certificate was issued. As part of the investigation, officials are collecting documentary evidence to confirm the legal status of the alleged marriage.
Investigators have also learned that Sia had reportedly shared photographs of the wedding on her private Instagram account before deleting them. Cyber experts are now attempting to retrieve the deleted images to determine whether they could serve as additional evidence in the case.
Ketan Agarwal died on June 18 after falling into a valley near the historic Lohagad Fort in Pune. The incident was initially treated as an accident, but the investigation later led police to suspect foul play. Authorities subsequently registered the case as a murder after gathering preliminary evidence.
Police have taken Sia and Chetan into custody and continue to question them as the investigation progresses. Officials believe the newly discovered information about the alleged secret marriage could play a crucial role in establishing the sequence of events and determining the motive behind the murder.
