States with Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall Alerts (July 9, 2025):

West India:

Konkan & Goa: Very heavy rainfall is likely.

Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra: Very heavy rainfall is likely.

Gujarat Region: Heavy rainfall is likely.

Mumbai, Thane, Palghar: Yellow alert for heavy rainfall in isolated places. Raigad is under an Orange alert.

Central & East India:

Madhya Pradesh: Heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall predicted for some areas until July 11. Flash flood alerts issued for several districts.

Chhattisgarh: Heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated very heavy rainfall. Some districts are under a Red Alert for the next 48 hours.

Vidarbha (Maharashtra): Very heavy rainfall is likely.

West Bengal & Jharkhand: Heavy rainfall is likely.

Odisha: Heavy rainfall is likely.

Northwest India:

Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand: Heavy rainfall is likely.

East Rajasthan: Very heavy rainfall is likely on July 11 and 12.

Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad: Heavy rainfall is likely until July 10.

West Uttar Pradesh: Heavy rainfall is likely until July 11.

Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, East Uttar Pradesh: Heavy rainfall is likely until July 10.

Northeast India:

Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura: Isolated heavy rainfall is likely to continue for the next 7 days.

Arunachal Pradesh: Heavy rainfall from July 11-14.

South Peninsular India:

Coastal Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe: Heavy rainfall is likely until July 14.

Telangana: Heavy rainfall alert for Mancherial and Nizamabad districts, and thunderstorm alerts for 23 districts including Hyderabad.

The monsoon trough is active and positioned near its normal mean sea level, contributing to widespread rainfall. A low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and its neighborhood is expected to move west-northwestwards, impacting Jharkhand and north Chhattisgarh.

Strong surface winds (40-50 kmph) are very likely over South Peninsular India for the next 5 days. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along and off the South Maharashtra-Goa coast due to squally weather.
