Delhi High Court Orders Restoration of SJP X Account After NEET Examination

The Delhi High Court directed the Centre to restore the SJP X account, observing that the NEET examination had concluded and the earlier concerns no longer remained relevant.

The Delhi High Court has directed the Central government to restore the X account of the Cockroach Janata Party SJP, providing significant relief to the political outfit. The court observed that the concerns cited while blocking the account were linked to the NEET examination, which has now concluded, making the restrictions unnecessary.

The order came after SJP founder Abhijeet Deepke challenged the government’s decision to block the party’s social media account. The petition argued that continuing the suspension was unjustified, prompting the High Court to seek the Centre’s response before hearing the matter in detail.

Representing the Central government, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta defended the decision to restrict the account. The government maintained that several posts related to the NEET examination had the potential to create confusion among students and parents at a time when concerns over the examination process were already high due to allegations surrounding the paper leak.

According to the Centre, allowing such content to remain accessible during the examination period could have disrupted the process and increased uncertainty among candidates. The government argued that the temporary restriction was imposed to prevent misinformation and maintain public confidence during a sensitive phase.

After considering the submissions, the High Court noted that the circumstances had changed significantly. Since the NEET examination process had already been completed, the possibility of the posts affecting students or the conduct of the examination no longer existed.

The court further observed that students and their families were no longer facing the uncertainty that existed during the examination period. In view of the changed situation, it ruled that continuing to block the SJP X account would not be justified and directed the authorities to restore access.

The SJP X account had gained considerable public attention in recent months and attracted millions of followers, making it one of the party’s most prominent platforms for online communication. The latest order allows the account to resume its activity while bringing an end to the legal dispute over its suspension.
