Cyclone Senyar: Heavy rainfall alert in 5 states for next 24 hours

Cyclone Senyar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for intense rainfall over the next 24 hours and the coming days, primarily driven by a developing weather system in the Bay of Bengal, which is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm (Cyclone Senyar). Heavy rainfall alert in these 5 states for next 24 hours.

As of today, Thursday, November 27, 2025, the focus of the Very Heavy Rain Alert is on the following regions, with the threat expanding over the weekend:

Andaman & Nicobar Islands: Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall is very likely at isolated places. Isolated Heavy Rainfall is likely to continue for the next few days.

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal: Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall is very likely at isolated places from November 28 to November 30, with a chance of Extremely Heavy Rainfall on November 29 and 30.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam: Intensity will significantly increase. Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall is likely on November 30, and Heavy Rainfall is likely on November 29 and December 1.

Rayalaseema (Andhra Pradesh): Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall is likely on November 30, and Heavy Rainfall is likely on November 29 and December 1.

Kerala & Mahe: Isolated Heavy Rainfall is likely to continue today (Nov 27). Intensity generally reduces thereafter, though scattered showers will persist.

Fishermen are strictly advised not to venture into the South Andaman Sea, the southwest Bay of Bengal, the Gulf of Mannar, or the Comorin area for the next few days due to rough to very rough sea conditions.

The rest of the country, particularly Northwest India (Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh), is experiencing Cold Wave conditions and Dense Fog in isolated pockets during the early morning hours.
