Foreign tourists harassed at Goa beach; three Mysuru youths arrested and released on bail
Mysuru: Goa Police have arrested three youths from Piriyapatna in Mysuru district on charges of harassing foreign women tourists at a beach in North Goa. The action came after a video showing the youths misbehaving with the tourists went viral on social media. The incident reportedly occurred on November 13.
According to police, the accused — B.R. Karthik (28), B.N. Santosh (33) and B.N. Ravi — all residents of Boganahalli in Ravandur hobli of Piriyapatna taluk, were identified based on the viral footage. They were traced in Mysuru and Bengaluru with the help of local police and subsequently taken into custody.
Following their arrest, the trio was produced before a Goa court and later released on bail, police sources said.
Misbehaviour captured on camera
The viral video showed foreign women tourists relaxing at Arambol Beach in North Goa. The three youths approached them seeking photographs and were seen placing their hands on the tourists’ shoulders and waist, amounting to inappropriate physical contact. The video triggered widespread outrage, prompting immediate police action.
Case registered based on viral video
Considering the safety of foreign nationals visiting the state, Goa Police registered a case based on the video evidence. The youths have been booked under Sections 74 (assault or criminal force on a woman) and 124(2) (obscene behaviour) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
An official confirmed to the media that the accused were produced before the court and granted bail after initial proceedings.
