Survivor alleges assault after being lured through Instagram, five held in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A shocking case of alleged sexual assault involving a college student has surfaced in Bengaluru, with Amruthahalli police arresting five individuals accused of drugging and raping the survivor after luring her through social media.
Police identified the main accused as Dixon Santra and Nikhil, along with three others — Shravan, Aniruddh, and Mohit Jain — who allegedly assisted in facilitating the crime. The arrests were made following a detailed complaint filed by the 19-year-old survivor.
According to police sources, the survivor had come in contact with Dixon through Instagram. Over time, he gained her trust and invited her to a private villa in Jakkur on February 14. The survivor, accompanied by a friend, visited the location believing it to be a social gathering.
In her complaint, the survivor alleged that she was forced to consume a tablet, after which she became disoriented. She accused Dixon and Nikhil of sexually assaulting her while she was in a semi-conscious condition. She also claimed that the accused issued life threats to prevent her from reporting the incident.
After initially remaining silent due to fear and trauma, she later approached police upon the advice of her family and registered a complaint.
However, in a counter-allegation, accused Nikhil claimed that the survivor had falsely implicated him and had demanded money through intimidation. He alleged that unknown persons posing as media representatives contacted him and demanded money.
Police confirmed that both the complaint and counter-complaint are being investigated. Officials said they are analysing digital communications, forensic evidence, and witness statements to ensure a fair and impartial probe.
