Cyclone Arnab: Heavy Rainfall Across Karnataka; Yellow Alert For These Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across Karnataka over the next three days. The impact of Cyclone Arnab, which has intensified over the Bay of Bengal and raised concerns along India’s east coast, is now being felt in Karnataka.

As a precautionary measure, the IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for all districts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru, warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Heavy Rain Likely in Coastal and Malnad Regions:

According to the weather department, the coastal districts of Udupi, Uttara Kannada, and Dakshina Kannada, along with the Malnad region, are expected to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

The day is likely to begin with partly cloudy skies, followed by moderate to heavy rain later. Meanwhile, the interior districts of Davanagere, Chitradurga, Tumakuru, Kolar, and Bengaluru Rural are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds.

Government Issues Safety Advisory:

With the weather situation turning serious, the government has issued a series of safety advisories for the public. Residents living near rivers, reservoirs, and low-lying areas have been urged to remain extremely cautious due to the risk of flooding.

People have also been advised not to stand beneath large billboards, hoardings, or dried and weakened trees, as strong winds could cause them to collapse.

Along the Karnataka coast, sea conditions are expected to remain rough, and fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea until further notice.

The authorities have appealed to the public to stay in safe locations, follow official weather updates, and take all necessary precautions until the adverse weather conditions subside.
