Outrage after students’ obscene remarks at nun in Bihar school go viral

Patna, : A 21-second video allegedly showing a group of school students making obscene and sexually suggestive remarks at a Christian nun has triggered widespread outrage on social media, with many calling it a disturbing reflection of moral decline among youth.
The incident reportedly took place at St. Joseph School in Jhajha town of Jamui district, Bihar. The video, which has been widely circulated on social media platforms and WhatsApp, shows a nun attempting to discipline students on the school grounds while a few boys record her on a mobile phone and pass inappropriate comments.
In the clip, the nun — believed to be a teacher at the school — is seen calling out students and asking them to come forward. During this time, some students allegedly engage in so-called “dark humour,” making vulgar references to adult content platforms such as Brazzers and adult film personalities. The remarks are widely being condemned as deeply disrespectful and obscene.
The video ends abruptly after the nun gestures towards the person recording, apparently noticing the filming. The authenticity of the video is being verified by authorities.
The incident has sparked intense debate online, with many expressing concern over increasing exposure of minors to explicit online content and the influence of social media on adolescent behaviour. Critics have described the act as not merely a prank but a serious instance of misconduct and harassment within a school campus.
Following the circulation of the video, social activist Suraj Barnwal lodged a complaint with the Jamui District Magistrate seeking strict action. District authorities have reportedly ordered an inquiry into the matter. Given that the students involved are believed to be minors, provisions under juvenile law may apply during further proceedings.
There are also indications that the school management may initiate an internal inquiry. In his complaint, the activist has sought accountability not only from the students but also from the institution’s administration, alleging lapses in discipline.
The incident has reignited conversations around digital exposure, school discipline and the responsibility of institutions and parents in shaping adolescent conduct.
