Karnataka Weather Forecast Shows Weak Monsoon With Rain In Several Districts
Karnataka weather forecast indicates a weak southwest monsoon, while coastal districts may receive moderate rain and several interior areas could see thunderstorms, gusty winds and light showers across the state.
The southwest monsoon remains weak over Karnataka, but the weather is unlikely to stay completely dry across the state. The latest forecast indicates moderate rain in parts of coastal Karnataka, while several interior districts may experience light showers, thunderstorms and strong winds on September 7 and 8.
According to the forecast, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada are among the districts that could receive moderate rainfall at a few locations. Weather conditions may vary from one district to another, with some areas expected to remain mostly dry.
Recent rainfall has already been recorded in a few parts of Karnataka. Channarayapatna in Hassan district received 4 centimetres of rain, while Kakkera in Yadgir recorded 3 centimetres. Hunasagi in Yadgir, the Gadag PBO observatory and Thirthahalli in Shivamogga each received 1 centimetre of rainfall.
The weather department has forecast moderate rain at isolated locations in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada on September 7. The coastal belt is therefore likely to remain the main focus for rainfall activity during the day.
In North Interior Karnataka, Belagavi, Dharwad and Haveri may receive light rain. These districts could also experience winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. Similar gusty winds are expected in Bagalkot, Bidar, Gadag, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura and Yadgir.
Southern parts of the state may also see some rain. Chamarajanagar, Hassan and Mysuru have been forecast to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Residents in these areas may notice changing weather conditions, particularly during periods of cloud development.
Shivamogga, Kodagu and Chikkamagaluru could receive light to moderate rain along with winds moving at speeds of around 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. The combination of rain and gusty winds may lead to short periods of unsettled weather in these districts.
Several other districts are also expected to experience strong winds. Ballari, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, Mandya, Ramanagara, Tumakuru and Vijayanagara may see winds reaching 30 to 40 kilometres per hour.
The forecast for September 8 shows a similar pattern. Coastal Karnataka is again expected to receive moderate rain at some locations, particularly in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada.
In North Interior Karnataka, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag and Koppal could receive light rain at isolated locations. The rainfall may not be widespread, but short spells are possible depending on local weather conditions.
Chamarajanagar, Hassan and Mysuru are likely to see moderate rain with thunder and lightning on September 8. Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kodagu and Shivamogga may receive light to moderate rainfall.
The latest rainfall figures provide an indication of how scattered the current monsoon activity has been. During the 24 hour period ending Sunday evening, Channarayapatna in Hassan recorded the highest rainfall among the listed locations at 4 centimetres.
Kakkera in Yadgir followed with 3 centimetres. Hunasagi recorded 1 centimetre, while the Gadag PBO observatory and Thirthahalli also recorded 1 centimetre each.
Despite these showers, the overall southwest monsoon situation over Karnataka remains weak. This means rainfall is likely to remain uneven, with some districts receiving showers while others may experience limited activity.
People in districts under the gusty wind forecast may need to remain cautious, particularly during sudden changes in weather. Residents can also keep track of local weather updates as rainfall and wind conditions can change during the day.
For Bengaluru, the forecast points mainly towards the possibility of strong winds rather than widespread moderate rainfall during the stated period. Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural are both among the districts where winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour are possible.
The coming two days are therefore expected to bring mixed weather across Karnataka. Coastal areas have a better chance of moderate rain, while parts of the interior may see light showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds.
