Karnataka Police Crack Down on Cannabis Cases Across Three Districts
Police in Karnataka have taken action in separate cannabis cases in Belagavi, Anekal and Nanjangud, including alleged sales near a college and suspected possession of ten kilograms.

Several cannabis related cases have surfaced across Karnataka in recent days, prompting police action in different parts of the state. Separate incidents reported from Belagavi, Anekal and Nanjangud have brought attention to the growing concern over illegal drug activity, particularly around young people.
In Belagavi, police arrested a man accused of allegedly selling cannabis mixed into chocolate near a private college in the Udyambag area. In Anekal, authorities seized a much larger quantity of cannabis during a raid at an apartment, while Nanjangud saw public concern after a video allegedly showing cannabis consumption near the Nanjundeshwara temple circulated online.
Cannabis mixed chocolates seized in Belagavi
The Udyambag police reportedly arrested Bholu Prajapati, a native of Uttar Pradesh, following information about the alleged sale of cannabis mixed with sweet chocolate outside a private college.
Police said the product was allegedly being sold at Rs 50 for a five gram portion. During the operation, officers seized packets containing cannabis mixed chocolates, along with a mobile phone and scooter.
A case has been registered at the Udyambag police station, and investigators are looking into the source of the cannabis and the intended buyers.
Ten kilograms seized during Anekal raid
A separate operation took place near Byagadadenahalli in Anekal, where police raided an apartment and reportedly recovered around ten kilograms of cannabis valued at approximately Rs 10 lakh.
The accused was identified as Pavan alias Tikla Pavan, aged 28. Police described him as a rowdy sheeter and said he had previously been linked to two murder cases and a robbery case.
According to the police, the cannabis was allegedly brought from Odisha before being supplied to college students. Two students from Alliance University, identified as Ubaid and Zafar, were also reportedly linked to the alleged network during the investigation.
Alleged cannabis use near Nanjangud temple
In another incident, an allegation of cannabis consumption emerged near the Dasoha Bhavan parking area close to the Nanjundeshwara temple in Nanjangud, Mysuru district.
Photos and a video purportedly showing a young man consuming cannabis circulated on social media. The incident triggered concern among local residents, who questioned how such activity could take place near a prominent religious site.
Residents have urged authorities to increase surveillance around the temple and take prompt action against any illegal activity in the area.
The three incidents are separate cases, but together they have renewed concerns about the availability of cannabis and the possibility of young people being targeted by illegal sellers. Police investigations and further action are expected in the respective cases.
