According to the forecast, heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, thunderstorms, and lightning is likely on August 12 and 13, raising concerns over weather-related disruptions.
The latest weather report predicts moderate to heavy rainfall with gusty winds across several north interior districts, including Belagavi, Dharwad, Bagalkot, Gadag, Vijayapura, Koppal, Kalaburagi, and Bidar.
Meanwhile, the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada are expected to remain under cloudy skies, with sudden spells of rain occurring two to three times during the day. Rainfall intensity is likely to be higher in the ghat and adjoining hilly regions, and similar weather conditions are expected to continue until August 19.
In south interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Tumakuru, and Chikkaballapur, light to moderate rainfall is expected at isolated places. The IMD has also warned that surface wind speeds will be exceptionally strong over the next 48 hours, urging the public and farmers to take necessary precautions.
Authorities have advised people to avoid taking shelter under trees, as strong winds could uproot trees and pose a serious risk to those travelling or working near roadsides and plantations.
