Gadag: Gadag district administration received a bomb threat via email, raising alarm at the DC office and prompting a high-alert response from authorities. The threatening email claimed that terrorists, in coordination with Pakistanโs ISI and LTTE operatives, planned to detonate five bombs at the district administration building.
The message, sent from the email ID of Arna Ashwin Shekhar, specifically warned that the explosions were intended to divert attention ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections. Following the threat, security personnel, including bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs, conducted a meticulous inspection of the Gadag DC office.
Senior officers, including DYSP Murtuja Khazi, CPI Lalsab Julkatte, Siddaramesh, and PSI Whiji Pawar, oversaw the security operations to ensure the safety of all personnel and visitors. The thorough sweep reportedly found no explosives, and authorities continue to investigate the origins and authenticity of the email.
In a related development, a similar bomb threat was sent to the Mangaluru RTO office near Nehru Maidan. The email warned of five bombs set to explode, prompting immediate action by Mangaluru police. The entire RTO building was evacuated, and a detailed search was carried out by the bomb disposal squad to ensure there was no risk to public safety.
The emails reportedly indicated that the threats were remotely coordinated by ISI and LTTE operatives, with references to Tamil Nadu political figures and a mention of Sajjan Haider PAF. Authorities in both Gadag and Mangaluru have treated the threats seriously, though initial investigations suggest the emails may be hoaxes.
Similarly, the Bidar DC office also received a bomb threat via an unknown email, warning that explosives had been planted and would be detonated imminently. In response, police placed the office on high alert, evacuated all staff, and conducted a thorough inspection with support from dog squads and fire personnel. After about an hour of checks, the authorities concluded the message appeared to be a false alarm.
