Covid-19 cases surge: Issued new guidelines
Covid-19 cases surge: As the number of active Covid-19 cases in the state rose to 35, the Karnataka government has advised pregnant women, children and those suffering from other ailments to wear face masks and use hand sanitizers in crowded places.
The state health department issued an advisory, saying there has been a gradual increase in Covid-19 cases for the past 20 days, but the situation is under control and no deaths have been reported so far. The advice comes amid a surge in Covid-19 cases across Southeast Asia.

Urging people to follow Covid-appropriate behavior during this time, pregnant women, children, individuals with compromised immune systems, and those with other illnesses are advised to wear face masks when visiting crowded places.
The advisor said that measures such as maintaining hand hygiene and using hand sanitizers can also be followed. The advisory states that those with symptoms of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) should consider undergoing COVID testing on priority for timely treatment and to check further spread of the virus.

Earlier, a nine-month-old baby boy in Bengaluru had tested positive for Covid-19, health department officials said. The infant, from Hoskote in Bengaluru Rural district, was initially admitted to a private hospital and later shifted to Vani Vilas Hospital in Kalasipalya in the city.
Health Department sources confirmed that the child is under medical observation and is responding to treatment.
