Ganesh Chaturthi celebrated with devotion and grandeur in Oman

Ganesh Chaturthi: Lord Ganesha, revered as the god of wisdom, the remover of obstacles, and a symbol of divine magnificence, was worshipped with great devotion during the 41st Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations held at the Motishwara Mahadev Mandir Hall in Muscat.

Traditionally organized and instilled with an eco-friendly spirit, the three- day event from August 27 to 29 was led by the Oman Maha Ganeshotsava Samiti, Tulu Koota Muscat.

This grand festival witnessed participation from thousands of devotees not just from the Indian community in Oman, but also from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, and neighbouring countries such as the UAE, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

Believers from other communities also came together in a spirit of unity and devotion, seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha. The festival began with the Prathisthapana, Panchamrita Abhisheka, and Gana Homa ceremonies, conducted by the Pradhana Archaka, Shri Shankar Narayan Adiga, supported by Shri Gurudas Pejathaya and a dedicated team of Archakas.

Over the three spiritually vibrant days, rituals such as Punya avachanam, MahaPooja, Ranga Pooja, Gana Homa, and Pushparchane were performed with devotion and precision. Offerings to the deity included Shatakai Seva, Laddu Seva, and a wide assortment of sweets, fruits, and flowers.

The atmosphere was enriched by soulful bhajans by Om Shree Ganesha Vrinda and various Bhajan Groups . From morning till night, the temple resonated with Vedic chants, devotional songs, Veena recitals, and Nrutyanjali performances by various cultural groups a true celebration of devotion and culture.

The temple premises were magnificently decorated. Fresh flowers in vibrant colors were specially flown in from India. Traditional décor elements such as banana plants, mango leaves, sugarcane, tender coconuts, and date bunches adorned the entrance. Inside, garlands of flowers in alternating hues graced the walls.

The beautifully sculpted, eco-friendly clay idol of Lord Ganesha crafted by artist Sadashiva Kamath was adorned with a gold crown, gold ornaments, and garlands made of Mangalore mallige, rose, lotus, and marigold.

A highlight of the decorations was the intricate Rangoli of Lord Ganesha, designed by talented artists Paru Negandhi and Pragna Shah. It featured religious symbols and was studded with glittering artificial stones.

The festival culminated with the Vigraha Visarjan on the night of August 29, amidst heartfelt chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Mangala Moorti Morya!” Reflecting the deep philosophical essence of Dharma, the tradition of Vigraha Visarjan reminds us that every divine form must eventually return to the formless.

Throughout the celebration, Laddu Prasad was served to all, along with an abundant spread of traditional Karnataka cuisine as Mahaprasad, provided by Udupi Home Restaurant, Annapoorna Restaurant, and Gokul Alkuwair Restaurant.

The festival was graced by esteemed dignitaries such as Sheikh Anil Khimji, Ashwin Bhai Dharamsey & family, and Bakul Bhai Mehta, as well as prominent members of the business and cultural community. With the generous support of the devotees, the festival was celebrated with great devotion and discipline.

The successful celebration of the event was made possible by the tireless efforts and meticulous coordination of the Oman Maha Ganeshotsava Samiti ,Tulu Koota Muscat. The Samiti comprises Convener S.K. Poojary, Umesh Bantwal, Shashidhar Shetty Mallar, Nagesh Shetty Kinnigoly, Ravi Kanchan, Dr. C.K. Anchan, Gurudas Pejathaya, Devanand Amin, Sukumar Anchan, Sachin Kamath, and numerous dedicated volunteers.

The entire decoration, crowd control, and Mahaprasada service were efficiently managed by a dedicated team of volunteers led by Anil Poojary, Umesh Jeppu, Satish Poojary, Srinivas Prabhu, Padmaya Gowda, Arun Bangera, Touluva Bolpu Balaga, Rani Abbakka Balaga ,Dhanu Vlogs, Shushant Kotekar Rajesh Achary, and others..

The celebration was broadcast live across various media platforms, allowing devotees near and far to participate in this celebration of divine joy and community spirit. The voice of the community loud and united continues to echo a celebration of consciousness: of beginning anew, removing internal blocks, staying grounded in wisdom, honoring nature, and embracing the flow of life with awareness and grace.
