Bollywood veteran Dharmendra discharged from hospital; Sunny Deol lashes out at paparazzi
Mumbai: Bollywood veteran actor Dharmendra was discharged from Breach Candy Hospital on Wednesday morning around 7:30 a.m. and has been taken home, where he will continue his treatment under supervision. The actor’s return home was welcomed by family members, but the day was marred by an incident involving intrusive paparazzi outside their Juhu residence.
Sunny Deol, Dharmendra’s son, expressed his anger publicly at the photographers who had gathered outside the house. Stepping out to address the crowd, he admonished the paparazzi for invading the family’s privacy. In a video shared on Instagram from a paparazzi account, Sunny is heard in Hindi saying, “Don’t you feel ashamed? There are parents and children in your house. You are recording videos, but do you feel no shame?”
The actor’s firm stance came as a reaction to recent false reports about Dharmendra’s health, including rumors about the veteran actor being on a ventilator. Sunny Deol requested the media to stop harassing the family, urging them to respect personal space during a stressful time.
The video quickly went viral on social media, with fans and netizens expressing support for Sunny’s outburst. Comments included messages such as, “Completely agree. Please leave the family alone,” while others acknowledged the paparazzi’s provocations.
This incident follows earlier interventions by Dharmendra’s daughter, Esha Deol, and wife, Hema Malini, who had publicly criticized media outlets for spreading false reports about the actor’s health. Hema Malini had expressed her outrage through social media, calling such news “extremely disrespectful and irresponsible” and urging the press to respect the family’s privacy.
During Dharmendra’s hospital stay, videos of family members visiting the actor circulated widely online, further intensifying media scrutiny. Rumors about his critical condition, including claims of him being ventilated, had drawn large numbers of paparazzi and media personnel to both the hospital and the actor’s residence.
Sunny Deol’s public response underscores the family’s frustration over invasive media coverage and the need for responsible reporting. Dharmendra, now recuperating at home, continues to receive medical care in a secure and private environment, as the family seeks to maintain dignity amid heightened public attention.
