Recent reports from July 2025 indicate that Madhu Bangarappa stated the government plans to recruit a total of 20,000 teachers for schools and aided colleges as soon as the internal reservation survey report is received. This figure seems to be an update to previous numbers.

Earlier in May 2025, it was reported that the Karnataka government would appoint 51,000 guest teachers for the 2025-26 academic year to address immediate shortages, with 40,000 for primary schools and 11,000 for high schools. These guest teacher appointments are temporary until permanent teachers are recruited.

In February 2025, Minister Bangarappa had also mentioned plans to fill around 25,000 teacher vacancies, and earlier in January 2025, he spoke about appointing 5,000 teachers for the Kalyana Karnataka region, with an additional 20,000 including physical education and Hindi teachers.

While the 12,500 figure was mentioned in earlier reports as the number of teachers appointed by the current government in its first 11 months, the latest statements from Minister Bangarappa indicate a larger recruitment drive for permanent positions, totaling 20,000 teachers, contingent on the internal reservation survey report.
