Maddur Case: In the aftermath of the stone-pelting incident during a Ganesha procession in Maddur, Mandya district, police have confirmed the arrest of 21 individuals. Maddur Case: Police arrest 21 Muslims, protesters called for Bandh tomorrow.

Initial reports from the police suggest that arrests have been made from both sides of the conflict. Mandya’s Superintendent of Police, Mallikarjun Baladandi, confirmed that 21 people were taken into custody and that efforts are underway to arrest five to six more individuals.

A case has been registered against the arrested accused under sections 189(2), 189(4), 121(2), 132 and 190 of the IPC at Maddur police station and the police are investigating.

The police have registered two separate cases in connection with the incident: one by the police themselves and another based on a complaint from a person injured during the stone-pelting.

According to Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara, some of the individuals arrested also belong to pro-Hindu organizations. The investigation is ongoing, and the complete details of those arrested will be made public once the probe is completed.

Pro-Hindu organizations have been outraged by the incident and have staged protests demanding appropriate action against the culprits. The police have managed to convince the protesters and have promised to take action against the accused.

Therefore, the protesters have called off their protest. However, they have called for a Maddur bandh tomorrow (September 09) and have appealed to the traders to voluntarily close their shops.
