Lecturer booked for sexually harassing engineering student in Mysuru

Mysuru: A case has been registered at Jayalakshmipuram Police Station against a lecturer from a reputed engineering college for allegedly sexually harassing a female engineering student.

The accused lecturer, Bharath Bhargav, has been booked under Sections 126(2), 75(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), police said.

According to the complaint, Bharath Bhargav, who was teaching at a prestigious engineering college in the city, allegedly harassed the student by making inappropriate offers, including promises of higher marks and better job opportunities. He had also reportedly invited her to pubs and asked her to “have fun,” the complaint stated.

The student further alleged that when she informed women lecturers about his inappropriate behaviour, the accused called and threatened her. He allegedly made obscene comments about her private parts and warned that he would fail her if she did not listen to him.

Following the student’s complaint, police have registered an FIR and initiated further investigation into the case. Mysuru
