The death toll in the tragic accident has been confirmed at nine, with multiple sources reporting that the truck lost control while attempting to avoid a biker, causing it to swerve into the procession. The incident has prompted condolences and a promise of compensation from government officials, including the chief minister of Karnataka.

The incident took place in Mosale Hosahalli village, on National Highway-373, around 8:30 PM on a recent Friday. According to initial police reports and eyewitness accounts, the truck driver, identified as Bhuvenesh, swerved to avoid hitting a biker. The vehicle then jumped the median and crashed into the procession of devotees on the opposite side of the road.

At least eight to nine people have been confirmed dead, and over 20 others were injured. The deceased include three engineering students. The death toll was initially reported as lower but increased as some of the injured succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

The truck driver was injured, apprehended by the crowd, and later taken into custody. Political leaders, including the Karnataka Chief Minister, expressed their condolences and announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh each for the families of the deceased. The government has also promised to cover the medical expenses of the injured.

Local authorities have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, including allegations of police negligence in managing the procession and traffic flow.
