Gangavathi BJP Yuva Morcha leader murder: four accused surrender, gambling rivalry suspected
Gangavathi BJP Yuva Morcha leader murder: In a shocking late-night incident, BJP Yuva Morcha Gangavathi president Venkatesh Kurubar was brutally murdered by a gang that chased him in a car while he was returning home after dinner with friends.
According to police, four accused — Bheem alias Bharat, Saleem, Vijay, and Dhanraj — have surrendered before Kampani police, while two others, Karthik and Lakshman, remain absconding. The surrendered suspects are being brought to Gangavathi for further investigation.
Preliminary police inquiries suggest that the murder may have been linked to a long-standing rivalry between two groups involved in the local gambling (ispeet) network. The dispute reportedly escalated over recent days, culminating in the targeted killing of the BJP leader.
The incident has sent shockwaves through Gangavathi town, sparking anger among local residents and BJP cadres. Venkatesh’s family is devastated by the loss — his grieving mother wept inconsolably, mourning her only son.
Police teams led by senior officers have cordoned off the area and are reviewing CCTV footage to trace the remaining suspects. “We are investigating multiple angles, including political rivalry and gambling disputes. The exact motive will be established after interrogation,” said an officer familiar with the case.
Tension prevails in Gangavathi following the murder, prompting authorities to tighten security across key locations. The case has now become a major talking point in local political circles, with BJP workers demanding swift justice and the arrest of all those involved.
