The case came to light when Sitapur Police recovered Jyoti’s body parts on November 8 from the Gulariha area. Following an investigation, police arrested Jyoti’s husband, Pankaj Maurya and Durjan Pasi.

As per a report by ANI, Pankaj Maurya told the police that his wife was addicted to drugs and “used to stay at someone’s home for several days due to which the relationship had gone sour”.

A statement by Sitapur Police said that Pankaj made the plan to murder Jyoti after he suspected that she was cheating on him. The two were married for over ten years. The police said that Pankaj Maurya killed Jyoti and then cut her body into several pieces to hide her identity.
