Sexual Assault Case: Former CM BS Yediyurappa first reaction

BS Yediyurappa on Friday reacted to the sexual assault case against him. A POCSO case has been registered against CM Yediyurappa under the Protection of Sexual Offenses against Children Act, 2012.

Former Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa on Friday reacted to the sexual assault case against him. In his first reaction, Yediyurappa said a woman came to his house crying and he tried to help her, but she later “started talking against him”.

“A woman came to my house a few days ago. She was crying that something was wrong. I asked her what was the matter and I personally called the police commissioner on the matter and told her to help him,” Yediyurappa was said.

“Later, the woman started speaking against me. I brought the matter to the notice of the Commissioner of Police. Police registered a complaint against me yesterday. Let’s see what happens next, I can’t say there is any political motive behind this,” he said.

Importantly, an FIR under the POCSO Act has been registered against the former chief minister based on a complaint lodged by the mother of the 17-year-old survivor, the police said on Friday. A POCSO case has been registered against CM Yediyurappa under the Protection of Sexual Offenses against Children Act, 2012, on the allegation that the mother of a minor girl sexually assaulted the BJP leader during a meeting held in February.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara confirmed on Friday that a complaint has been registered against Yediyurappa and said that the woman has typed the complaint and submitted it to the state police. A woman filed a complaint against BS Yediyurappa last night. After verifying the details, the police registered a complaint. “I cannot comment on the details until the investigation is over,” he said

According to the complaint, Yediyurappa sexually assaulted his daughter on February 2. The Karnataka police registered a case against BS Yediyurappa under Section 8 of the POCSO Act and Section 354A of the IPC. It is worth noting that the 81-year-old BJP leader is one of the prominent faces of the party in the southern state. He is a BJP leader who has served four times as the Chief Minister of Karnataka and three times as the Leader of the Opposition.
