No Change in Result of Malur Constituency, Recount Confirms Victory ?

Kolar: The recounting of votes in Mallur constituency, which has sparked curiosity and speculation, took place under strict security measures on Tuesday. Officials stated that the likelihood of a change in the election results is minimal.

At around 8 PM, MLA K. V. Nanjegowda, who emerged from the recounting center, stated, “There has been no discrepancy found in the recount. I have received justice.” The recount was conducted following directives from the Supreme Court, which had ordered a review of votes due to concerns raised earlier.

The Supreme Court had also instructed that the results should not be officially announced until the recount was completed. As a result, the election commission has sealed the results and will submit the final report to the court for approval. A hearing on this matter is expected to take place on November 24.

Members present at the recount center included Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader K. S. Manjunath Gowda, independent candidate Hoodi Vijay Kumar, District Collector M. R. Ravi, Election Officer Dr. Maitreyi, and observer Prabhu Narayanasignh.

In the 2023 elections, Nanjegowda had won by a margin of 248 votes. Previously, BJP’s K. S. Manjunath Gowda had challenged this result in court, raising questions about the authenticity of the votes.

The recount process aimed to ensure transparency and uphold the democratic process in the Mallur constituency. As the investigation concludes, political tensions remain high, but officials remain confident that the results will stand firm after the scrutiny.

Further developments are awaited as Nanjegowda’s victory is now under judicial review, with the court’s decision anticipated on November 24. This process underscores the importance of electoral integrity and the judiciary’s role in resolving electoral disputes.
