Bank Holidays in March 2026 Four days of bank closures expected across several states
Banking services may face disruption in many parts of India as several holidays including Ram Navami Mahavir Jayanti fourth Saturday and Sunday fall close together in late March.

Several bank holidays expected at the end of March
Bank customers across India may experience temporary interruptions in branch services during the final week of March as multiple holidays fall close together. According to the holiday calendar released by the Reserve Bank of India several bank holidays are scheduled between March 26 and March 31 in different states.
Because of these consecutive holidays banks in certain regions could remain closed for multiple days. Customers planning important banking transactions are advised to check the holiday schedule of their local branches and complete urgent work in advance.
Ram Navami holidays in different states
Ram Navami which marks the birth anniversary of Lord Rama is observed on the ninth day of Chaitra Navratri. The festival is celebrated with temple visits religious processions and cultural events across many parts of the country. In several northern states the occasion is treated as a public holiday.
According to traditional calendars the Navami tithi begins on March 26 at 11 48 in the morning and continues until March 27 at 10 06 in the morning. Because of this timing some states will observe the holiday on March 26 while others will celebrate it on March 27.
On March 26 banks will remain closed in states including Gujarat Karnataka Chandigarh Rajasthan Uttar Pradesh West Bengal Maharashtra Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh. On March 27 banks will remain closed in states such as Madhya Pradesh Odisha Sikkim Telangana Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.
Additional weekend and festival holidays
Apart from Ram Navami holidays the fourth Saturday and Sunday also fall during the same period. Banks across the country will remain closed on March 28 because it is the fourth Saturday of the month. March 29 is a Sunday which is a regular weekly bank holiday according to RBI guidelines.
Another important holiday occurs on March 31 for Mahavir Janma Kalyanak also known as Mahavir Jayanti. On this day banks will remain closed in several states including Gujarat Maharashtra Karnataka Madhya Pradesh Tamil Nadu Rajasthan Uttar Pradesh West Bengal and Delhi.
With multiple holidays occurring within a short span customers are advised to plan their banking activities carefully. While online banking and digital payment services will continue to function normally physical bank branches may remain closed on the scheduled holiday dates.
