Traffic curbs across bengaluru for TCS world 10k marathon, police issue advisory

Bengaluru ;Ahead of the much-anticipated TCS World 10K Marathon, the Bengaluru Traffic Police has announced extensive traffic diversions and restrictions across Bengaluru on Sunday to ensure smooth conduct of the event and public safety.
The marathon, scheduled between 5 am and 11 am, is expected to see participation from nearly 30,000 runners, including professionals and fitness enthusiasts. In view of the large turnout, authorities have imposed temporary traffic restrictions on several key roads in the central business district.
Entry of vehicles towards Vidhana Soudha will be completely prohibited during the event hours. Similarly, Cubbon Road will remain closed for vehicular movement between CTO Junction and Manipal Centre. Traffic restrictions will also be enforced on St. John’s Road, Kamaraj Road, Dickinson Road, Gangadhar Chetty Road, Union Street, Lady Curzon Road, and Bhaskaran Road.
Police have urged commuters to plan their travel in advance and avoid these routes during the marathon hours. To ease congestion, several alternative routes have been suggested. Vehicles heading towards Vidhana Soudha from Queen’s Road can take Balekundri Junction, connect to Cunningham Road, and proceed via Chalukya Junction towards Kempegowda Bus Stand.
Traffic on Infantry Road will be diverted towards Balekundri Junction. BMTC buses operating from Shivajinagar towards Majestic and KR Market will be rerouted via Venkataswamy Naidu Road and Cunningham Road.
For commuters travelling from MG Road towards Ulsoor, authorities have advised using Webs Junction and Trinity Junction to reach Swami Vivekananda Road and then connect to Old Madras Road. Heavy vehicles moving along MG Road and Old Madras Road will be diverted at NGEF Junction towards Suranjan Das Road.
Parking restrictions will also be in place on several roads including Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Road, Raj Bhavan Road, Queen’s Road, Cubbon Park surroundings, Infantry Road, Museum Road, Kasturba Road, and St. Mark’s Road.
However, designated parking spaces will be available at MS Building, Freedom Park (paid), Shivajinagar Bus Stand, UB City (paid), Jnana Jyothi Auditorium, MLA Bhavan premises, Nehru Planetarium, and Garuda Mall.
In addition, Namma Metro services will begin early at 3:30 am to facilitate smooth travel for participants and the public.
Police have appealed to citizens to cooperate and use public transport wherever possible.
